It's an interesting idea, but then again, the birthday parties I have seen in Spain and Argentina haven't been much different than what goes on here in the US. Basically it's the same deal - kids music, cake and playtime. Actually, I would say the US parties had more "organized" activities, from pin-the-tail on the donkey to musical chairs. Besides playing Spanish music and making a cake from Dulce de Leche, Im not sure how I could incorporate more from Argentina or Spain.

In Peru is definitely different than in the states. A birthday party is usually loud because we play music all the time, a party without music is not a party. We play games too but most of the times there is a clown or a magician or a show to have the kids enterteined. We have arroz con leche (rice pudding), mazamorra morada (made with purple corn), jello, pop corn, cookies, sandwiches, candies, etc. And of course we have the piƱata full of candies and cheap toys! The cake is according to the party theme, most of peruvians get a cake from the bakery store, here in the states I see many people prefer to bake the cake for their kids parties and I like that! a homemade cake is much better and less sugary :-) I found a great link with neat ideas for birthday cakes http://www.coolest-birthday-cakes.com/cake-designs.html. I've been looking for a latin fiesta supplies with no luck, I only found mexican party supplies like hats and maracas with mexican designs and colors but what I'd like to find is something different, something hispanic like musical instruments or neutral colors. I'll keep looking!
